About Exmouth
Exmouth is one of the oldest and most picturesque seaside towns in Devon. The town is the gateway to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and has two miles of sandy beach, which is perfect for water sports and walks.
Exmouth is on the South east coast of Devon where the river Exe meets the sea. Close to Exeter, this vibrant town offers plenty of walking and cycling routes and water sports as well as local shops and restaurants to enjoy all year round.
Exmouth is known as a regional centre for water sports – particularly Kite Surfing, kayaking and windsurfing – but you can do pretty much any water sport here. Exmouth Beach is a beautiful sandy golden beach, perfect for summer days at the seaside, building sandcastles, swimming or playing in the rockpools, or try Sandy Bay - a haf mile private beach in a secluded bay. Take a scenic boat trip out across the coast to take in the breathtaking scenery and local history.
The picturesque Exe Estuary cycle trail runs from Exmouth to Dawlish along the banks of the estuary, passing many wildlife spots, cafes, shops and coastal towns, making it the ideal place for an active day out exploring Exmouth and the surrounds. The South West Coast Path runs through the town as it makes its way along the South coast. Walk to the East of the town and you can enjoy spectacular coastal walks along the dramatic cliffs of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. This stretch of coast line dates back over 250million years, you may even find a fossil or two as you enjoy the stunning views. If you dont fancy the walk - do a cruise with Stuart Line Cruises to enjoy the stunning coastline.
Exmouth is home is an indoor market and range of shops to be browsed and explored amongst the splendid regency architecture. To discover a bit more about the history of the town follow the Blue Plaque heritage trail and explore the heritage of the area.

With its location on the banks of the Exe Estuary Exmouth is a wildlife hotspot, don’t miss the spectacle of thousands of birds arriving to spend winter on the estuary at Exmouth Local Nature Reserve, one of the biggest Local Nature Reserves in Devon.
